April’s Exhibition Focus on Screen presents Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the wuxia masterpiece starring Michelle Yeoh as a formidable female warrior, and Chow Yun Fat as her sword-crossed lover.
An epic wuxia martial arts film starring Michelle Yeoh, Chow Yun Fat, Zhang Ziyi and Chang Chen, Ang Lee’s surprise commercial global hit is widely regarded as one of the greatest films of the 21st century.
Following the intertwined destinies of several characters, Michelle Yeoh and Chow Yun Fat play honourable warriors whose love for each other remains unspoken but keenly felt across decades. Their paths intersect as they pursue a stolen sword by a noblewoman masking as a skilled thief (Zhang Ziyi), who is in love with a fellow bandit (Chang Chen).
