Hollywood star Melissa McCarthy and director Paul Feig gathered with fans of the classic Ghostbusters film to witness a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Ghosts at a Single Venue at Marina Bay Sands. Organized by Sony Pictures Entertainment, the special event was held on 12 June 2016 in anticipation of the release of the reboot of the show.
An on-site adjudicator for Guinness World Records confirmed that a total of 263 people dressed as ghosts had claimed the new title.
“Seeing this many people get their ghost on and set a Guinness World Records title is a true testament to this amazing franchise that Dan, Harold and Ivan created 32 years ago," said director Paul Feig. "Ghostbusters of the world, gear up!”
Fans of the beloved franchise who witnessed this once in a lifetime moment also got up close with the Oscar-nominated comedienne Melissa McCarthy and took away limited edition Ghostbusters collectibles and merchandise.
Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return on 14 July 2016 in Singapore, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth.
